Is the artist a giant who is in despair being imprisoned in a cocoon?
Or is it an energy of vanity tirelessly and endlessly flapping her wings trying to soar into the air!
– From artist’s note –
Jessica Jang has been active in the art community in Southern California since 2010 participating in solo and group exhibitions in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Laguna Beach. In 2012, she established CWAA Exhibition for YWCA, and she was introduced in 2013 Fall issue of the Laguna Beach Art Magazine under the “20 Artists You Should Know” section. She currently serves as president of the Orange County Korean Artist Association (OKAA). Her works will be also shown in various exhibitions scheduled in Korea, Japan, and Paris during 2016 & 2017.
Jessica Jang’s mixed media works can be characterized as representational paintings. The butterfly is an impression of the endless flapping of her wings to stay afloat or to soar into the air despite the discouraging reality, which dramatically symbolizes the rebirth, freedom, and desire.
