A Wish (念願)

A Wish (Unjusa) was intended to express common people’s wish: When you pour out your heart and soul, your wish will be accomplished. If a sincere wish reaches the sky and draws Buddhist benevolence, an earthshaking convulsion will be created in this bustling world and then Paradise will unfold so that everybody’s dreams are able to come true.

Remembrance

Remembrance is intended to formalize maternity of the Mother Nature and my mother.

A misty blue opens the door of time, rushes into the room, and hands over a letter from the past. It is the heart of the Mother Nature that arises as a mist from some warm little pond beyond remembrance. While the warm, soft life of Mother was running here on the Arrow of Time, it got cold and changed into a body of rough misty particles.

The Arrow of Time left, again taking Mother on board. Mother was faintly being burned out in the woods. The tree anxiously shivered desiring to seize a piece of her green hem. The chain of time that the tree has been shaping in it, an annual ring, is the record of memory written down by her.

The maternity pays a visit to the forgotten and the deserted in the Arrow of Time. That is the very secret of the tree and the mist in the woods.

Natural objects that emit the light of souls as existence itself had been watching me silently no matter what I did anywhere. Finally, I started to exchange looks with those objects and have mutual spiritual response with them. The objects had been only watching me far away through a veil of fog of the world dropped between us. To me photographs are nothing but a diary of souls shared with them. Conversing with the objects picture-taken through meditation and incorporating the silent mutual response in documentary work were assigned to me as an eternal task in my life.

Traveling worldwide following the compass of a soul, I am engaged in photographing and introducing Korean culture abroad. To fully express mysterious lines of the Orient, I create my works by using the big camera analog method that can honestly reveal the lines as they are. I have participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions held in Korea, Japan, the United Sates, and Canada, and introduced my works through magazines and books. Currently, my works belong with the collection by many institutes and individuals.
