<따뜻하게 기억하기> <Remembering warmly>

인간의 눈으로 세상을 바라볼 때 대상이 되는 사람과 사물은 관찰자마다 서로 다른 이미지로 인지된다. 크기와 형태는 물론 색깔과 느낌도 그것을 보는 사람에 따라 각기 다르게 인식된다. 사람들은 자신의 무의식과 통합된 이성의 잣대로 대상을 바라보기 때문이다. 그러므로 동일한 대상에 대한 인식이더라도 관찰자에게는 제각기 고유한 것이 된다. 우리는 작가 김혜경에게서도 그러한 특유의 해석과 인식을 발견할 수 있다.
In human’s view about the world, not only people and objects are recognized as the different images by observers, but also the size and the shape as well as colors and feelings are the same by viewers. It is because people see the objects with the standard of reason integrated with unconsciousness of oneself. Thus it is separately unique for each observer even if it is the recognition for the same object. We can find such a unique interpretation and recognition from the artist Hyekyeong Kim.
작가 김혜경은 오랫동안 판화를 위주로 작업해왔다. 그의 작업에서 주로 보여지는 것은 그녀의 다양한 일상이다. 사회성 짙은 질문을 던지거나 심연의 농도 짙은 고뇌를 담아내는 대신 누구나 공감하는 삶의 단편들을 스냅 사진처럼 담아낸다. 우리는 그녀의 작업 속에서 대상을 바라보는 따뜻함을 어렵지 않게 느낄 수 있다.
The artist Heaykyung Kim has done her artwork in prints for a long time. A variety of daily life is shown in her artworks. Instead of tossing social matters or an abyss of agony, she captures fragments of our life that everyone can sympathize with like snap still photos. The warmth of her view of objects is felt easily in her artworks.
김혜경의 작품 속 이미지에 전체적으로 녹아있는 것은 즐거운 기억이다. 유년시절의 경험, 장소와 빛에 대한 기억, 많은 여행과 만남의 순간들, 사물과 시간에 대한 느낌들은 매 순간 작가의 긍정적 정서와 잘 혼합되어 저장된 듯하다. 그 느낌과 기억들이 화면 위에 재현될 때 미학적인 기준이나 정해진 틀, 또는 일정 주제에 얽매이지 않는다. 그럼에도 그녀의 메시지는 결코 가볍지 않다. 대상이 그녀만의 해학적 필터를 거치면 매우 컨템포러리하게 재현될 뿐만 아니라 색채 또한 매우 과감하게 펼쳐진다. 결과적으로 그녀의 작업은 매우 은유적인 표현이 된다.
It is joyous memories that are totally melted in the image of her paintings. The artist’s positive emotion seems to be mixed and saved well with her childhood experiences, the memories of place and light, lots of travels and the meeting moments with people, and the feelings of objects and time, When such feelings and memories come alive on the canvas, they are not constrained by an aesthetic standard, a set frame, or a certain theme. Nevertheless her message is not light. Not only objects through her humorous filter represent very contemporary style, but also colors spread out very boldly. Consequentially her artwork becomes metaphorically expressive.
또한 작가가 삶 속에서 겪었을 어려웠던 일들과 무거운 연민들은 오히려 따뜻한 다독임으로 치환된다. 작가의 그림에서 공통적으로 발견할 수 있는 그러한 위로는 자칫 종교적 가치관으로도 비쳐질 수 있다. 그러나 작가는 다양한 표현기법과 재료를 사용하여 자신과 주변에 대한 사랑을 표현하는 데에 주저하지 않는다. 특히 꽃에 대한 재현에서는 거침이 없고 강렬한 색채를 통해 사랑에 대한 무한한 열정을 희망하는 듯하다. 아울러 대상을 현대적이고 세련된 형태로 표현해내는 감각은 그녀가 추상과 구상의 경계를 넘나드는 매우 자유로운 영혼임을 말해준다. 게다가 순발력을 지닌 위트와 타고난 색채감각은 언제나 다음 작업을 궁금하게 만든다.
Difficulties and sympathies that she got through in her life rather turn into a warm comfort. Such consolation shown commonly in her paintings can be suggested as religious values. But she never hesitates to express love for herself and her surroundings by using various techniques and materials. Especially painting flowers audaciously, she seems to desire the endless passion for love through strong colors. It says a lot for her that she has a very free spirit to cover a wide range of sense from abstract to figurative, which sense turns an object into a modern and sophisticated shape. Moreover, her spontaneous wit and inborn color sense always makes one wonder what is next.
따라서 우리는 향후 그녀의 부단한 작업을 통해서 세상을 향한 따뜻한 위로와 희망을 좀 더 많이 자주 확인 할 수 있기를 기대한다.
Therefore, I wish we can see more open comfort and hope for the world through her diligent artwork in the future.
